Mind Studio captures this mushroom in a 10:1 liquid extract made exclusively from organic fruiting bodies, using ultrasonic-assisted dual extraction. Formulated and bottled in Denmark, it brings a longstanding mushroom tradition into an easy daily ritual.

Mushroom Wisdom, Rooted in Nourishment

In traditional Chinese dietary and herbal practice, shiitake is associated with replenishing qi, the language of vitality, and supporting the digestive foundations of nourishment. Its traditional role is restorative: helping nourish people through periods of tiredness and depletion.

Beta-Glucans: Shiitake’s Immune Connection

Among shiitake’s most distinctive constituents are beta-glucans, complex polysaccharides found in its cell walls. These include lentinan, extensively studied for its interaction with immune cells and signalling.

Mushroom beta-glucans have structures that immune cells can recognise through specialised receptors. This interaction helps explain the scientific interest in shiitake and its place in mushroom preparations focused on natural defences.

The Vitamin D Connection

Shiitake also contains ergosterol, a naturally occurring fungal sterol that transforms into vitamin D₂ when exposed to sunlight or ultraviolet light. It is a fascinating connection between the mushroom, its environment and nutrition: vitamin D contributes to normal immune function.

The amount produced depends on light exposure and processing, so this natural feature of shiitake does not specify the vitamin D content of the finished extract.

Mind Studio uses organic shiitake fruiting bodies, without mycelium, grain or fillers.

Its ultrasonic-assisted dual extraction combines water and alcohol to access different groups of mushroom constituents. Water is used to extract water-soluble polysaccharides, while alcohol helps extract less water-soluble compounds. Ultrasound assists the process by disrupting the mushroom material and improving contact with the extraction liquids.

The finished extract is bottled in Miron violet glass.
